Operation Feed The Bachelors
A fundraiser for South Shore Rooster Rescue.
If you’ve spent some time hanging around here at The Rooster Registry, you’ve probably seen Leanne Arnott’s name come up. Leanne has opened her property (called South Shore Rooster Rescue) near Liverpool, Nova Scotia to “extra” roosters who need somewhere to go, allowing them to free-range, help control insects, and live out their lives in a safe place.
Just this year she has taken in more than 35 roosters (all without asking for anything in return)! That’s a lot of boys saved from the stewpot. Just the other weekend, I heard from two different people who had taken roosters to Leanne. One had brought her four. The other had brought three. Seven roosters in one weekend! Those were just the seven I happened to know about, there may have been more.
Finding a home is only half the battle. Somebody’s gotta buy the feed!
Leanne has an incredibly huge heart. She has given and given and given, and she continues to give (and say yes) to roosters who need a safe place to call home. I wanted to find a way to give something back to her, and I figured there was no better way than helping her fill the feeders for those boys with a fundraiser.
Let’s see what happens when a whole community decides to help feed a bunch of “extra” roosters, $5 at a time. Together, we can do big things and I think we’ve got this!
** If you are not able to donate, please don’t feel bad, that’s totally ok. If you want, you can still help the cause by sharing the link to this page with your family and friends. One share could make all the difference in the world!

South Shore Rooster Rescue is run by Leanne Arnott.
She has a habit of saying yes when a rooster needs somewhere to go and, as a result, she has more than 35 boys happily free-ranging her property near Liverpool, Nova Scotia.
The photos on this page are just a few of the happy bachelors she has taken in.
How Can You Help?
A donation of $5 feeds all of the roosters at South Shore Rooster Rescue for a day.
$5 a day adds up fast when you’re paying it every single day but it’s a relatively small amount for one person to give once. I’d love to be able to send Leanne funds to feed everyone for the winter months. There are 151 days from November 1st through March 31st. To reach the goal, we’d only need 151 people to each feed the bachelor flock for a day.
I’ll keep track of everything here (as well as on Facebook) so you guys can see the progress.
You can make your donation in any amount, it doesn’t have to be $5 (no donation is too small).
You can donate either via Interac E-transfer or through Square, whichever is easiest for you.
Every single cent (minus transaction fees taken from Square donations) will go directly to Leanne when the fundraiser ends.
